Vasco Rossi è uno dei pochissimi artisti italiani amato da un grande pubblico senza confini di cultura, ceto o età.

Lo ascoltano i giovani e i loro padri; lo ascolta chi passa in discoteca la domenica pomeriggio e chi va a teatro il sabato sera; chi guarda il grande fratello e chi compera eco-sostenibile aspettando con ansia l'ultimo film di Aki Kaurismaki.

Insomma Vasco Rossi sta simpatico a quasi tutti. Il motivo è semplice: probabilmente stiamo parlando di un artista autentico e di un uomo con dubbi, fragilità e contraddizioni in cui è possibile rispecchiarsi.

Lo si capisce anche dalle parole che Vasco usa per descrivere il suo nuovo album "Buoni e cattivi" che esce oggi a tre anni di distanza da Stupido Hotel, l'album più venduto del 2001: "Questo nuovo disco rappresenta quello che sono, è un disco provocatorio delle coscienze ed ha il gusto di smascherare le ipocrisie più comuni. C'è anche molta ironia, a differenza del passato, dove forse era più presente l'amarezza. Io non sono un profeta, non sono un eroe. Sono una persona con tanti dubbi, poche certezze, tante insicurezze e fragilità che mi portano a fare errori dai quali cerco di rialzarmi e so quanto è faticoso".

Parole dette non a caso in compagnia di Don Ciotti e di Dori Ghezzi in una struttura della comunità del Gruppo Abele che si occupa di problemi di alcool, @@@@@ e situazioni di disagio.

Una voglia di comunicare e di stare dalla parte dei più deboli, quella di Vasco Rossi che ricorda lo spirito di un altro grande artista, l'amico fragile Fabrizio De Andrè. Tanto che Dori Ghezzi a proposito di quella eredità fatta di musica, parole e atteggiamenti dice "non posso certo dargliela io. Ma Vasco, giustamente, se la sta prendendo".
